Hotel Rosalpina Dolomites

The river of time

where dreams take shape.

A climatic spa for those with lung diseases, reputed throughout Europe: that was the plan in 1913. The high number of hours of sunshine on Mount Plose and the pure mountain air at 1,770 m were the reasons the scheme was conceived. Then came the World War. And the turmoil it caused turned all the plans for a tuberculosis sanatorium in Plancios to dust. It was impossible to realise the project to the extent envisaged.

Right up until the 1960's it was used as the holiday residence of the Papal Charity and was called "Colonia". Then for many years it slept like the Sleeping Beauty until it was discovered by the Hinteregger family and awakened once more as an unrivalled nature hotel in the midst of the enchantment of the mountains.

Today the building, bronzed by the sun, built entirely from natural material from the immediate vicinity, has long-forgotten tales to tell. It is constructed from stone, glass and wood, which creaks as you walk on it. It is traditional but also modern, simple, yet elegant and inviting. And with every step you take you are aware that this is the home of Nature. Everything here is genuine and unadulterated
